19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

The player's retrieving strategy and regular reactions on court had led some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet rescued four initial break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, he secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
