I will overwhelm 'credible combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight round match which will be streamed in real-time on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to publicize next month's heavyweight fight.

Former two time world title holder Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, theoretically, a massive mismatch - at Miami's Kaseya Center on December 19th.

Boxer's Mentality

"I plan to break his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," Joshua, 35, said.

"I will dominate him completely. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I intend to genuinely try to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Respectful Exchange

Despite such comments, a calm Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - usually recognized for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua rival the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian declined a match opportunity.

Taking Aim at Tyson Fury

Joshua, at the same time, targeted British rival Fury - and refused a million-pound wager 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul win.

"[Paul] outshines Tyson Fury - he's present here," Joshua commented.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of stating he plans to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to speak negatively about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he remarked.

Jake Paul's Background

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mainly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.

He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in last year.

Financial Success

However, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's biggest commercial attractions, consistently making massive paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28-year-old forecast a stoppage in rounds four or five and asserted he would derail the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is allegedly in the works for 2026.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.

Size Difference

As the two fighters engaged in the customary confrontation, with their height and weight contrast on show, it highlighted just how improbable this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is actually going ahead.
