2K Games has welcomed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to direct the development team at 31st Union, which is currently developing the anticipated third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.

The new appointee takes on the role of studio head at the development studio following the departure of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' disappointing unveiling last fall.
Recently, 2K president David Ismailer notified team members about this organizational change through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had shown the necessity for a clearer vision.
The president noted that the developers is now refining the project with a renewed vision, aiming to address gamer demands.

This announcement echoes a comparable step taken by the publisher in August, when they hired Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

The player input from last autumn’s Project ETHOS testing phase was informative. It validated the potential of a action-packed game but told us we still had refinements needed. It uncovered the need for a sharper vision.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve advanced. You accepted the feedback to mind and reimagined Project ETHOS with a renewed direction - one that’s positioned to deliver on its ambition to our players.
The trust in Project ETHOS increases every day. To advance the remarkable development you’ve made, I am thrilled to introduce the new hire as the latest Director of the team. After several months of conversations, he officially joins us on next week.

The upcoming game was revealed in last year together with a community playtest. At the time, 31st Union portrayed the title as a "no-cost, 3rd-person action-packed experience and an exciting advancement on the category."
